  • What are your hours of operations?

    Sassafras will open on June 4th, 2025, and serve a single seating to 20 souls Wednesday through Saturday, beginning at 6:45. Doors open at 6:30 (we kindly request that you do not arrive early–we’re busy getting ready for you!) 

    Reservations are required.

    In April and May we are offering limited seatings for our Preview Dinner Series.


  • Can you accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions?

    We acknowledge and respect those who suffer from various allergies, and those who strive to avoid certain ingredients in pursuit of bettering their personal health. Our intimate dining experience has many benefits, but unfortunately it does not allow for individual dietary accommodations at this time, as there are too few of us serving the food to execute individual substitutions. 

    We can, however, accommodate those following a pescatarian diet, with a minimum of 7 days notice. It is best to make a notation when reserving your seat. We are not able to accommodate those with gluten, soy, dairy, allium, or shellfish allergies, or those following vegetarian or vegan diets. If you have an allergy or dietary restriction that is not listed here, it is best to get in touch with us before purchasing a reservation.

  • Does Sassafras have a dress code?

    We refer to ourselves as rustic and refined. Feel free to come as you are, though diners will be most comfortable in smart casual attire. For those who prefer heels, take care walking through our gravel parking lot and on our creaky wooden floors. 

  • Are you kid friendly?

    We invite diners of all ages, though recommend children of 12 years or more. Please keep in mind that dinner is a multiple hour affair with around 12 courses, and everyone is served the same pre fixe menu. Every member of your party must have a reservation. 

  • What is your corkage policy?

    We invite you to bring the bottles that are special to you, as long as they are not on our current list. We charge $75 per 750ml bottle. Please note: corkage for our Preview Dinner Series is $25 per bottle.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Similar to a sporting event, concert, or the theater, our ticketed dinners are prepaid and sales are meant to be final. However, we acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and are able to offer a full refund when notified at least 7 days prior to the date of your reservation. Refunds are not possible within 7 days of your reservation. Decreasing your party’s size is subject to the same policy. To cancel, please email us at restaurantsassafras@gmail.com.

  • Where do I park?

    We are located at 12 Ericsson Avenue, Betterton, Maryland 21610. Parking is available for diners in the gravel lot directly in front of the restaurant.
